Do Goliath Bird Eating Tarantulas only eat mice and birds?

I want a Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula. Although, my mom and sister are EXTREMELY soft hearted when it comes to animals. They said I could get a tarantula, as long as I don't feed it live mice and birds. Can I feed a Goliath Bird Eater Tarantula a frozen/thawed mouse, or an anole lizard? Can I feed my future Tarantula crickets?
