My horse doesn't like going in a clockwise direction?

Okay so I have a 17.1 Hand 22 year old Gelding. His name is Goliath. His last owners abandoned him so I don't know what he was used for before and I don't even know his breed. He rides really well but when ever we ride in a clockwise direction he acts more anxeious and fights with me a little more than he does in the other direction. When on a lunge rope he's less obidient in that direction. Anyone have suggestions to fiz this or ideas why he acts this way? Thank you. :)
